Event for California Travel Groups | The Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles and the Armenian American Chamber of Commerce will jointly promote tourism to Armenia at a special event with two southern California travel groups at 7 pm on Thursday, November 11 at the Maran Restaurant in Glendale, Calif. The travel organizations-the Southern California Association of Retail Travel Agents (SoCal ARTA) and the Professionals Within Travel (PWIT)-will participate in the event, which will promote travel and tourism to Armenia and Karabakh (Artsakh).

Announcement | In order to improve the conditions of its interstate roads and meet European standards, the Armenian government has developed the "North-South" highway initiative which will be financed in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank. The goal of the project is to rebuild the 556 km Meghri-Yerevan-Bavra highway which runs across the Republic from the north to the south. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.

Armenian Catholic church in Los Angeles | His Eminence Cardinal Gregory was the driving force responsible for founding an Armenian Catholic church in Los Angeles, California in 1952. His Eminence created a new mission in Los Angeles and requested that father Michael Akian, a Mekhitarest Father of Vienna to minister to the local Armenian Catholic community. Soon enough, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Los Angeles presented Father Akian and his congregation a new church in Boyle Heights.

15th Anniversary Celebration at the NOKIA Theatre | The Gevorkian Dance Academy celebrated its 15th anniversary at the world-famous NOKIA Theatre on May 9, 2010. The event marked a significant milestone of their long and triumphant journey. The ensemble of 600 talented dancers skillfully performed complicated artistic and technical routines and conquered NOKIA's glorious stage with a graceful display of dance excellence. Two Armenian pianists, Naira Shahsouvarian and Maria Amirkhanian, elated the
music-loving community in Fresno with a stunning duo-piano performance followed
by a vocal performance featuring soprano Anahit Nersessian. The event, held at
the Concert Hall in CSU Fresno, took place on Sunday, March 28, 2010. More than
250 people were in attendance and enjoyed a fabulous musical selection.

LA Travel Show Crowd is 'Abuzz' By Armenia's First-Time Appearance | (LOS ANGELES)-Armenia and Karabakh made their first appearance at the LA Times Travel and Adventure Show last week and were greeted by a two-day throng of more than 40,000 people, according to show organizers. Representatives of the two countries distributed travel information and staffed a booth that showed video clips about Armenia and Karabakh. Armenian dance groups in native attire performed folk dances on each day of the show.

Yacht "Armenia" will reach the Greater Los Angeles by Mid August | The Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles is pleased to inform that the "Armenia" round-the-world expedition yacht is scheduled to reach the seashores of the greater Los Angeles on Monday, August 24, 2009 and will be docked at the Port of Los Angeles.
Starting out its world cruise from the Spanish Valencia port on May 28th, 2009, the "Armenia" yacht already crossed Gibraltar, Atlantic Ocean, Barbados Island and Panama Channel.

Yacht "Armenia" will reach the Greater Los Angeles by Mid August |
The Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles is pleased to
announce the upcoming arrival of the Mesrop Mashtots round-the-world yacht
expedition. The expedition is expected to reach the seashores of the greater Los
Angeles by the mid August. Led by prominent public figure and writer Zori
Balayan, the yacht with its crew has been sailing and visiting Armenian
communities world wide while also researching the Armenian cultural centers and
historic monuments.

Despite her age, Zoya Baghramyan says she feels like she's 18 years old,
