In order to improve the conditions of its interstate roads and meet European standards, the Armenian government has developed the "North-South" highway initiative which will be financed in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank. The goal of the project is to rebuild the 556 km Meghri-Yerevan-Bavra highway which runs across the Republic from the north to the south. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.

His Eminence Cardinal Gregory was the driving force responsible for founding an Armenian Catholic church in Los Angeles, California in 1952. His Eminence created a new mission in Los Angeles and requested that father Michael Akian, a Mekhitarest Father of Vienna to minister to the local Armenian Catholic community. Soon enough, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Los Angeles presented Father Akian and his congregation a new church in Boyle Heights.

(LOS ANGELES)-Armenia and Karabakh made their first appearance at the LA Times Travel and Adventure Show last week and were greeted by a two-day throng of more than 40,000 people, according to show organizers. Representatives of the two countries distributed travel information and staffed a booth that showed video clips about Armenia and Karabakh. Armenian dance groups in native attire performed folk dances on each day of the show.
