Mr. Hasan Cemal, the columnist of a lead Turkish newspaper - "Milliyet" was invited by the AGBU Knights of Vardan to speak before UCLA student community and the faculty as well as representatives of local organisations. Hasan Cemal is the grandson of Cemal Pasha, one of the top three Turkish perpetrators of the Armenian Genocide.

Armenia's Minister of Diaspora visits Jefferson Elementary | Four years after launching the district's first Armenian heritage program at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Glendale Unified officials on Wednesday welcomed Armenia's Minister of Diaspora Affairs Hranush Hakobyan to the site.
"I am absolutely thrilled and impressed with how our kids in such a short period can be perfectly fluent in both languages, Armenian and English," Hakobyan said through a translator.

World's oldest winery discovered in Armenian cave | The world's oldest winery was discovered in one of the caves in Armenia. A wine press, fermentation jar and a bowl dating to approximately 6000 years ago were found by international group of archeologists in the Armenian cave, Associated Press reported. The discover is the earliest example of wine making production, said Gregory Areshianan, University of California, Los Angeles, co-director of the excavation. Information about findings was published in the online edition of Journal of Archaeological Science.

Fresno welcomes Sister City delegation from Etchmiadzin | A sister city partnership agreement between Etchmiadzin and Fresno was signed at the Fresno City Hall on August 16, 2010. The Armenian delegation was headed by the Mayor of Etchmiadzin, Karen Grigoryan. The partnership agreement provides for establishment of friendly ties between two cities, development of cultural and scientific projects, and collaboration in touristic, viniculture and agricultural.
